Amani Osman has over nine years experience in the nonprofit sector. She is a graduate of Criminology and Sociology from Royal Holloway University of London and has spent her life between the UK and Sudan. In her most recent capacity as Communications Officer for International Organization for Migration (IOM), Amani was responsible for all forms of communications for IOM Sudan including but not limited to; media relations, press releases, human interest stories, IOM Sudan website, global campaigns and events, social media accounts, advocacy efforts and local government relations. She designed and developed a monthly interactive newsletter, as well as creating and launching from scratch the new IOM Sudan website. Amani acquired skills in utilizing social media and print media, newsletters, calendars, fact sheets, information briefs and advocacy reports. Project planning, monitoring and evaluation systems, quality assurance, budget management and capacity development among others have all been essential components of her previous job roles. Whilst working as Grants Manager at GOAL Sudan, Amani successfully developed comprehensive multisectoral project proposals gaining the organization over twelve million dollars in funding for projects in health, WASH, protection, nutrition and livelihoods. Through her work with different international organization in both London and Sudan, Amani has gained skills in research, communications, monitoring and reporting, grant and proposal development in numerous fields; including conflict resolution and peace building, human and women’s rights, child protection, and democracy and governance. With a strong passion for and firm belief in human rights, gender equality and protection, Amani is interested in focusing on developing human rights standards and increasing awareness in Sudan on child protection, law enforcement and peace building. She is also committed to capacity development of local organizations, in turn assisting those less fortunate through conceptual understanding of participatory approaches and sustainable development interventions.

Duaa Elfadil is a social entrepreneur, web designer and social media specialist with four years of experiences in web designing and social media management. Duaa is passionate about using technology innovations to solve chronic social problems. Her interest in youth empowerment inspired her to join YALI R LC East Africa where she expanded her network throughout the continent. Dua also later joined Shabab Gadir, a national leadership development program. Currently, Duaa is leading two startups project, acting as Founder and CEO of the social enterprise My Academic Platform (MAP), a professional development platform that compiles different professional development opportunities targeting Sudanese and African youth professionals. She is also the Founder and Web Solutions and Digital Marketing Manager at Zonilus Tech Solutions, which provides digital services for different sectors. Leading regional and national initiatives, Duaa co-founded and designed the website of Kush Sudan; the first Sudanese digital initiative that aims to reflect a positive image about Sudan. She is also leading A MORAN (The Great I AM), an initiative and movement around Africa founded by a `group of YALI RLC East Africa Alumni aiming to empower and transform African youth.

Host Org: MetroLab Network

Fellow role at MetroLab Network Duaa will serve as a Project Coordinator, working on content and exploratory research, supporting MetroLab’s Annual Summit, and assisting with website development.

Duha is a global changemaker with four years of experience in the nonprofit sector. She earned a bachelor’s degree in NGO Management from The National Ribat University in Khartoum. Duha seeks to create a positive impact both locally and globally and she is especially passionate in the field of education, youth development and empowerment because she believes that education is the most important tool of positive change, and that youth hold immense potentials which need to be tapped into to achieve prosperity within nations. Duha has volunteered in various community-based organizations working with different target groups inside Khartoum and in the rural areas of Sudan. She was also the communication assistant for RedR UK, and her latest accomplishment was serving for a year as a community development officer for Science Of Life Studies 24/7 (SOLS 24/7), an organization based in southeast Asia, proving high quality education and life skills for underprivileged communities.

 Role at Host Organization: As a development fellow, Duha will add much-needed capacity to the small development team. She will be a significant contributor to our being able to both respond to the unique challenges and leverage the unique opportunities of this critical moment in DC Scores’ history.

Hashim has three years of experience in the nonprofit sector. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology from the Sikkim Manipal University, India and a Master’s degree in Business Administration, Project Management from Sudan International University. In his current role as Project Manager for the British Council, he has extensive experience working with communities and educational programs in Sudan, specifically in grant-funded projects partnering with ministries of education, schools, universities, and socially responsible partners. For large-scale projects, he has implemented, monitored, and evaluated a portfolio of large scale teachers’ training programs in ten states around Sudan through a partnership with the Federal Ministry of General Education. In this role, he assessed the impact and results of the program, suggested improvements, and provided feedback. He has been organizing over 20 Management Forum sessions for young and mid-career professionals and business practitioners in association with MTN (a regional telecoms company operating in Sudan). Most recently, Hashim has managed Premier Skills (a project in partnership with Sudanese Football Association, the British Embassy, USAID, and the Youth and Youngsters Organization) to train and coach educators. This project supports community youth football leagues to productively engage youth and build the capacity of coaches in inclusive community development activities. Hashim has also designed an art-and-music community-based project, which utilizes art and music to turn negative behaviors into positive ones. He organized Open Mic events and cultural forums at the British Council to give a platform to youth and develop their talent. Hashim’s overall aim is to develop youth as social entrepreneurs.

Host Organization: Making Cents International

 Role at Host Organization: As the Youth Development Research Associate, Hashim will be supporting the Vice President of Youth Development and the technical team in conducting research; developing monitoring and evaluation strategies; contributing to new business development; and creating strategic action plans and products on topics related to cross-sectoral youth development, youth economic opportunities, and soft skills development. He will also enhance technical assistance through assessments, capacity building, and monitoring & evaluation.

Hythem has eight years of extensive experience with three years of experience in grant management in the nonprofit sector. He earned a Master’s degree in Development Studies from the University of Medical Sciences and Technology in Sudan. As a Program Coordinator with Norwegian Church Aid (NCA), Hythem was responsible for developing and managing the Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation and Report (PMER) basic tools in accordance with NCA global PMER. Hythem was also the country gender focal point for NCA Sudan. Previously, Hythem has worked with AECOM International Sudan (AIS) under the USAID- funded project Sudan Transition and Conflict Mitigation (STCM) project. During his works as a Grants Specialist with AIS, Hythem was a member of the grant management team that had managed almost 50 different grants per year in different sectors that include but are not limited to; livelihood, water, infrastructure, capacity building, conflict mitigation, and exchange visits. Through his work with different international organizations such as Islamic Relief Worldwide (IRW), United Nations Development Program (UNDP), United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR), AECOM International Sudan (AIS), and Norwegian Church Aid (NCA), Hythem has gained skills in proposal writing, project management, report writing, gender mainstreaming, and monitoring and evaluation. Hythem has strong passion for building the capacity of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and Community Based Organizations (CBOs) to play a stronger role in positive social changes.

Host Organization: Nexus Fund

Role at Host Organization: Hythem will utilize his experience conducting research and managing projects to build up the innovation lab and grants program and find ways to support civil society in countries at risk of mass atrocities. He will support the fundraising director in their efforts and build Nexus Fund’s capacity to liaise with grantees.

Mayada Abdelazim has four years of experience in the nonprofit sector. She is a graduate of Economics with a major in Development from the University of Khartoum. She obtained her Masters in Development studies from The University of Medical Sciences and Technology. She is the co-founder of the SheLearns initiative, which has supported female education in Sudan since February 2012. Mayada has had in-depth experience in women’s rights in Sudan and the horn of Africa, as a projects assistant at SIHA. She worked to enhance the capacity of women at the grassroots level, supporting them to organize themselves in cooperatives to improve their livelihood and gain access to rights. Mayada also worked with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) as a researcher on missing persons in Darfur. Mayada is interested in finding ways to link macroeconomic interventions and the development of local communities, by creating cost effective, pro-poor strategies.

Host Organization: Mentor Capital Network

Role at Host Organization: Mayada will expand interaction with entrepreneurs, mentors, and investors (collecting and telling stories, performing due-diligence for investors, and identifying where to further support them). She will also identify potential new opportunities for collaboration.

Nadia Taha is a journalist working for Ahyin and Nuba Reports in Nairobi, Kenya. As a trained lawyer, Nadia holds an LLB from Nilein University in Khartoum, Sudan. With Ahyin and Nuba Reports, Nadia works as the Director of Communications. In addition to being the public face of the organization, Nadia has gained skills in video production, social media marketing, and an in-depth understanding of political and social dynamics of Sudan’s conflict zones. Nadia has also worked as an associated producer and researcher for VICE on two projects. The first was a film about Darfur refugees, and the second was about the Chadian army fighting Boko Haram. This has helped strengthen Nadia’s skills. Nadia previously worked with Sudan Radio Service based in Nairobi. She introduced a program specifically covering women’s issues in Sudan that deal with human rights, legal issues, gender concerns, war crimes, and female education. This program was broadcasted to Darfur and the rest of Sudan each Friday. Nadia was also a lead actor in the Al-Dawahi series, a radio drama series that tackles issues such as human rights, rape in the Darfur conflict, early marriage and the role of the UN in peace in Darfur. She has been instrumental in getting radio programs produced by the Sudan Radio Service to be rebroadcast on an FM station in eastern Chad, which broadcasts to several Darfur refugee camps located in that country.

Host Organization: Voice of America

 Role at Host Organization: Nadia will serve with VOA staff to identify and research news and feature stories in Sudan and South Sudan that are of interest to the target audience, and will be called upon to conduct interviews. She will expand her skills in journalism and storytelling and produce radio reports for international broadcast and/or digital content for the voanews.com/southsudan website. In addition, Nadia will support the editorial process of planning daily news coverage, and be expected to participate actively in daily news meetings.

Randa has eight years of experience in the nonprofit sector. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Khartoum, and a Master’s degree in International Economics, Finance, and Development from University of Surrey. In her current role with the British Council, she was central to the rapidly developing nature of British Council operations in both Sudan and South Sudan over the last three years. Among her main responsibilities are financial management, financial planning, risk management, and context analysis as well as providing support to countries in the Sudan cluster. She has developed strong managerial skills and experience in the area of human resources. She is looking forward to an opportunity that will allow her to directly contribute towards economic development projects. She is also equally keen on gaining advanced managerial and leadership skills that will help in progressing her career and enhancing the scope of work that she can deliver in the future. She enjoys travel and enjoys working in a diverse environment.

Host Organization: CARE

Role at Host Organization: Randa will support CARE International’s efforts to appropriately position the organization in a global context by providing direct support to the Head of Advocacy. Additionally, she’ll play an integral role in promoting effective fiscal oversight by preparing financial and fundraising pipeline information to CARE’s Senior Management team.
