Starting the journey of being an Atlas Corps fellow from Nigeria serving at RESULTS has been part of the professional milestones I have anticipated as a young professional and now I’m living my dream. Being selected into Class 18 comprising of 22 Fellows representing 14 countries, which include: Afghanistan, Bolivia, Cameroon, Colombia, Egypt, India, Kenya, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Panama, South Korea, South Sudan, and Sudan was an amazing opportunity to learn, share, and innovate. The first two weeks of the fellowship which started in May 2015 was amazing, we had a week long orientation and another week of immersion, learning to serve in an American integrated workforce, communication amongst other amazing things learned. We had opportunity to interact with all serving fellows from different classes representing different countries and this has boosted my international experience working with people from diverse groups and ethnicity.
June 1, 2015 was my first day at my host organization working with ACTION Team at RESULTS in Washington DC and its awesome the team spirit that exist amongst staff, fellows and interns. The orientation for the new staff, fellows and interns was great as we went down the memory lane to see how RESULTS started from a sprout and has grown so big within the United States and abroad having partners in over 10 countries fighting issues of poverty, global health, education and micro-credit.
Among the things I’m doing at ACTION includes but not limited to conducting policy research and coordinating with partners across priority health issues including tuberculosis, vaccines and other child health priorities, and nutrition amongst other cross-cutting areas. I’m fascinated to be part of this astonishing team.
