Woody Allen in his “Everything you wanted to know about sex but were afraid to ask”

Being a fellow is very exciting, everyone wants to have a great year with no worries about little things. Especially, the ones related to our health. I’d argue that one of the most common check-ups we all need is the one for STDs 🙂 And I know you will be worried to asl fellow fellows or program manager about this. Well, here is the list of cheap options in the Bay Area.

  1. City Clinic – 356 7TH ST. in San Francisco
OMG! Love them. I even have recommendations for doctors, both are Russians, if you need specific check-ups, ask to see Clara or Ivan. You are expected to pay $25 as a donation but if you are broke you can tell them and they will still provide the service for free. You can even get HPV vaccinated. COOL!
“We offer testing, diagnosis and treatment of sexually transmitted infections; client-centered counseling; partner services; linkage to care; family planning and emergency contraception; post- and pre-exposure prophylaxis for HIV (PEP and PrEP); and free condoms.”
  2. ALLIANCE HEALTH PROJECT – 1930 MARKET ST. in San Francisco
If you worry only about HIV, then you can pop up here.
“A UCSF project, Alliance Health Project provides HIV testing for free to everyone and chlamydia testing to men and transgender clients who have sex with men.”
P.S. also, have you heard of PrEP? The pill to prevent HIV? You might want to look into it too.
  3. MAGNET – 4122 18TH ST. in San Francisco
For my gay male fellows: you are in luck!
“Magnet is one of the swankest places in town to get tested, and yes they actually have those magnets. But they only serve gay men.”
They also have condoms in three sizes, yasss!
  4. WOMEN’S COMMUNITY CLINIC – 1833 FILLMORE ST. in San Francisco
For my fellows with vaginas, here is spot for you. They test for HIV, HPV, chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, Hepatitis A, B and C.
“The ladies option is the Women’s Community Clinic, where testing is free and other medical services are provided very affordably.”

Stay safe, have fun, and don’t be scared to test yourself and your partner <3
