Fellows

Amina is a Procurement Professional with four years of experience working with international and humanitarian organizations. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in English Language, Literature, and Civilization from a Tunisian University in Tunisia. Over the past years, Amina has been working on development projects to improve private sectors and youth participation in civil society. Currently a Procurement Officer at FHI360, a $48,552,142 USAID project to increase youth participation in civic and political life. Starting in December 2021, her role has been of great help to the improvement of youth participation in civic life by procuring goods and services that impact directly and indirectly on youth participation in civic life. Previously, Amina worked as a Procurement Officer and was then promoted to Procurement Specialist with the USAID Tunisia Accountability, Decentralization, and Effective Municipalities project, a 4-year, $54 million U.S. government program to support the needs of Tunisia’s municipalities, implemented by Deloitte. She served as the lead procurement liaison between the USAID team, Tunisian municipalities, and local suppliers. Some of the procurements she led supported essential services, including road rehabilitation, energy, street lighting, waste management, municipal parks, healthcare, and government-wide IT procurements. In less than two years, Amina supported over USD 5,000,000 of local procurements for the Tunisian government on behalf of USAID. One of Amina’s most notable impacts in 2020 was leading the US government’s emergency response operations to supply the Tunisian government with USD 1,500,000 of COVID-19 equipment to over half of the country’s municipalities. She led the end-to-end process and coordinated with several awarded vendors to quickly manufacture and deliver the required items. Her efforts led to the delivery of 75,837 items and 1.5 million liters of cleaning solutions to 151 municipalities, and the Ministry of Local Affairs. Deloitte U.S awarded Amina an “Outstanding Performance Award” in 2020.

Host Organization: CARE

Role at Host Organization: As a Supply Chain Fellow, Amina will support CARE’s supply chain transformation project and help drive key milestones. As one of the core team members, the Fellow will work with corporate partners and the senior team to review the organization’s supply chain to assess gaps, plan development, and prioritize needs. The Fellow will also support the implementation of supply chain policies and training across the organization’s different country offices.

Anil Chaudhary is a development enthusiast with a specialization in Development Monitoring, Evaluation, Research, and Learning (MERL). Originally from Nepal, Anil has nearly a decade of experience in the areas of MERL and has excellent expertise in designing the M&E plan and framework for the diverse and complex nature of development projects. He has led or co-led several surveys and evaluations in a wide range of interventions such as public health, agriculture, and livelihood, education, and humanitarian response. He is equipped with excellent quantitative and qualitative research skills. With sound technical skills for designing the M&E system at the program and organization level and developing robust data collection tools for monitoring purposes, he has worked in numbers of international organizations in the past including bilateral multilateral (UN) and INGOs. He has also provided consulting services for numbers of INGOs and NGOs working in different geographical areas of Nepal. Be it writing progress reports for the project or organization or writing impact stories, he has sound writing skills. His other capacities include designing project and program evaluations, developing questionnaires, and collecting data using web-based applications. An excellent communicator with stakeholders and partners, he has sound workshop and training facilitation skills. With recent engagement in academia, he is passionate about social research, particularly in the areas of humanitarian relief, social protection, economic development, and public health. After the earthquake in Nepal in 2015, he worked in different disaster response interventions. Furthermore, he is capable of being able to generate quality data and evidence from the field in harsh situations. Besides, Anil is a passionate traveler, photographer, interactor, and cultural explorer.

Host Organization: American Red Cross

Role at Host Organization: At the American Red Cross, Anil will serve as the QDL Research & Analysis Fellow: supporting research, analysis, and learning efforts for International Services Department Strategy 2023.

Arsalan is a development professional with nine years of experience in the nonprofit sector. He holds a Master’s degree in Statistics from Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, Pakistan. His core functional and sector expertise include research, evaluations, program coordination and management, proposal writing / resource mobilization, microfinance, enterprise development, and post disaster recovery. He brings hands-on experience of managing donor funded projects for microfinance, enterprise development, livelihood, social mobilization, education, nutrition, and food security. He started his professional career in 2006 with National Rural Support Program (NRSP) when it launched the post earthquake operations in Azad Jammu & Kashmir. In a career spanning over 7 years, Arsalan, established the NRSP Microfinance portfolio and later introduced innovative micro loan products.

In 2009, he visited Thailand & Philippines for an ‘exposure cum learning visit’ to bring back learned lessons and new ideas for USAID/SBI funded Advancing Microfinance for Post-Disaster Economic Reconstruction (AMPER) project. In 2012, he was selected as one of the 15 fellows of the prestigious Emerging Leaders of Pakistan (ELP) program, launched by the South Asia Center of Atlantic Council, USA. The ELP program is aimed at creating an in-person and online networking forum for engagement and collaboration of civil society leaders from Pakistan. In 2013, Arsalan made a career move to development consulting and joined an international development consulting entity, where he lead the projects & partnerships development unit.

Host Organization: Disaster Accountability Project

Role at Host Organization: Arsalan will help DAP build relationships with civil society organizations (CSOs) and NGOs in the U.S. and globally, train representatives of CSOs and NGOs to complete SmartResponse surveys, manage aspects of SmartResponse program and development, and assist with outreach efforts to “disaster donors,” the media, student groups, and diaspora networks.

Boubacar is a Senegalese young leader who has been working since his early age to uplift communities and promote youth leadership. After earning a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and a Master’s degree in Project Management, Boubacar pursued a career in sustainable development, international cooperation, and humanitarian affairs, working with several organizations, including CorpsAfrica, the World Food Program, and the International Organization of La Francophonie. In Madagascar with the International Organization of La Francophonie, he trained over 100 youth across the Indian Ocean on youth leadership, entrepreneurship and sustainable development goals and lobbied governments to promote youth participation. Boubacar has working as an independent consultant in the field of youth development and project management, and was collaborating as a consultant with the National Endowment for the Humanities Ajami Research Project led by the Center for African Studies at Boston University.

Host Organization: CorpsAfrica

Role at Host Organization: As the Alumni Association Fellow, Boubacar will work to build a system that supports former CorpsAfrica Volunteers in their personal lives and professional careers. As CorpsAfrica works to expand new programs in Africa, it is critical that they keep former Volunteers in all countries engaged with CorpsAfrica and with each other and help them succeed in their chosen careers. The Fellow will develop a solid framework of communication for CorpsAfrica Volunteer alumni, create opportunities for alumni to stay involved with CorpsAfrica, and provide professional support services to alumni, including hiring events and professional development opportunities.

Jessica has over ten years of experience in the nonprofit sector, and earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of the Philippines. She managed and implemented development projects funded by Oxfam and the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), aimed at addressing poverty, child protection and education inequality. For the past five years Jessica has taken in the lead in improving the economic capacities of over 30,000 vulnerable families in the sugarcane farms through sustainable agriculture, enterprise development, business services, market linkaging, savings mobilization, microfinance and youth skills development throughout the Philippines. She is currently engaged in humanitarian work as the Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL) Coordinator of Action Against Hunger leading its FSL program.. In 2017 Jessica co-founded ENABLRS, Inc. (Engaging and Empowering Nation-builders in Learning, Research and Social Entrepreneurship), a development consulting firm focused on improving development effectiveness and impact of nonprofits. She is a Fujitsu Global Leaders for Innovation and Knowledge fellow, and an alumna of the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) of the U.S. Department of State, a program of President Barack Obama to strengthen leadership development in the ASEAN. In her free time, she runs career coaching and mentoring sessions to prepare youth to successfully transition from school to work. Jessica is committed to promoting inclusive growth through entrepreneurship, financial inclusion, agriculture development and resilient livelihoods.

Host Organization: Albright Stonebridge Group

Role at Albright Stonebridge Group: Jessica will act as a member of several client teams and will generally function as the engagement manager for one or more client engagements, taking the lead in communications with client POCs and other external stakeholder and leverage the expertise and networks of senior staff to meet clients needs.

Chibuzor Mgbeokwere is a dedicated and accomplished professional with a wealth of experience in monitoring, evaluation, research, and learning, demonstrating a strong commitment to driving impactful outcomes in both development and emergency context, especially in challenging operational environments. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Health Education (BSc.) – University of Nigeria Nsukka, Nigeria. Prior to her current role, Chibuzor was a Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, Research, and Learning Specialist at Tonipash Energy from September 2022. She made substantial contributions to the improving clean energy initiatives, overseeing the research, development, and implementation of the Performance Monitoring Plan, and providing crucial leadership in M&E. Chibuzor’s career journey also includes her role as a Country Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Officer (Environmental Health) at the International Rescue Committee from Feb 2021 to September 2022. Here, she showcased her expertise in producing high-quality reports and played a pivotal role in ensuring M&E and reporting requirements were met for multi-donor funded projects in Northeast Nigeria. Furthermore, she has contributed her skills and knowledge to various organizations, including The International Research & Exchanges Board (IREX), Premiere Urgence Internationale, Achieving Health Nigeria Initiative – SIDHAS Project, and World Health Organization (WHO), leaving a remarkable impact in the field of monitoring, evaluation, and learning. Chibuzor’s core competencies encompass strategic MEAL management, proficiency in database development, statistical analysis, data visualization, consultancy services, and project. She is fluent in English, Igbo, and Hausa languages, enhancing her ability to collaborate effectively in diverse multicultural settings. Her commitment to inclusive data and her proactive approach make her an invaluable asset in any professional environment.

Host Organization: Development Gateway

Role at Host Organization: As a Monitoring, Evaluation, Eesearch and Learning (MERL) Fellow, Chibuzor, in the capacity of an associate, would have a MERL focus and work on synthesizing and analyzing various pieces of key information collected on the programs. The Fellow is expected to contribute to writing of knowledge products and reports. Additional work may involve supporting other programs at DG should time allow.

Eric has 10 years of experience in the nonprofit sector. He is a recipient of the 2017/18 Chevening Scholarship taking a MSc in International Development (Conflict, Security and Development) at University of Birmingham, UK. He has a Master’s degree specializing in peacebuilding and conflict resolution from Kenyatta University, Kenya and a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from Pontifical Urban University, Rome. Eric is the CEO of Africure Limited, a company dealing with medical equipment supplies, He is the immediate former Development Director at Tangaza University College, Kenya and his main responsibilities were identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors. Previously, Eric was an Atlas Corps fellow serving at United Nation Foundation, mHealth Alliance in Washington, DC as the the Business and Development Associate. His main responsibilities were securing financial and in-kind support for a range of United Nation Foundation, mHealth programs through donor prospecting and proposal development. Eric was also the Executive Director of Furukombe Initiative, Kenya a position he held for two and half years.He was involved together with Critical Mass Leadership Education, Inc in developing and coordinating a youth leadership program between U.S. students from Colorado State and Kenyan students funded by U.S. department fund. Eric has also worked with Sudan Catholic Bishops Regional Secretariat based in Juba, South Sudan as an Emergency Coordinator for two years. His main responsibilities were to fund-raise for the refugees, returnees, and IDPs in South Sudan. Eric has worked with Caritas Nairobi, Kenya as a Program Coordinator for one and half years. Eric is interested in International development, conflict analyses, fundraising, and capacity building.

Host Organization: UN Foundation

Fellow’s Role at UN Foundation:
Eric will serve as the Development Associate cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding financial and in-kind donors for the mHealth Alliance program from corporations, foundations, governments, and individuals. The Development Associate identifies institutional synergies and new funding sources, manages cultivation and solicitation data and results, creates proposals and letters of interest to meet program objectives, and works effectively and collaboratively with other UN Foundation programs and offices to maximize grant potential and partnership success.

Innocent has four years of experience in the nonprofit sector. He holds a Bachelors degree in Agricultural Economics from Ahmadu Bello University in Nigeria, and a Masters of Science in Agriculture and Resource Management from the University of Bonn in Germany. Innocent has worked in various fields, ranging from humanitarian and disaster relief with the Nigerian and German Red Cross to rural development with Programme of Action for Health and Rural Development (PAHRD-Abuja). He also served as the Associate Impact Specialist for the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture-Sustainable Tree Crops Program (IITA-STCP) in Nigeria. Innocent has professional experience in natural resource management, food policy analysis, and environmental and energy efficiency. He has participated in numerous Model United Nations conferences such as the Committee on Sustainable Development (BIMUN-Bonn, Germany) and the Economic and Social Council (OxIMUN-Oxford, UK), from which he has acquired key international diplomatic skills. Innocent also served as Head of the European Student Delegation to the 2009 International Student Energy Summit (ISES-Calgary, Canada) and recently led a group of young energy entreprenuers in Nigeria. Innocent aims to positively impact lives by tackling energy poverty, food insecurity, and the effect of climate change on livelihoods in developing countries. He is a member of the International Association for Energy Economics (IAEE) and aspires to become a successful development expert.
