The Atlas Corps: Brazil Northern States Emerging Leaders Initiative is partially supported by the U.S. Embassy in Brazil and is looking to engage 10 emerging Brazilian social change leaders from the Northern Region of Brazil in the Virtual Leadership Institute. Brazilian applicants from the states of Acre, Amapá, Amazonas, Pará, Rondônia, Roraima, and Tocantins are eligible to apply.
The goals of this initiative are: 1) to strengthen ties between the United States and Brazil to increase mutual understanding and cooperation in the areas of inclusive economic growth, empowerment of women and minority groups, and the strengthening of democratic values, and 2) to empower young civil society leaders and social entrepreneurs from Brazil.
The Atlas Corps Virtual Leadership Institute is an online learning community for global social change professionals based on our established leadership development curriculum. Participants, known as Atlas Corps Scholars, enhance their professional skills, build their global networks, and prepare for leadership in their home communities.
The Leadership Institute is organized into five online learning modules: Orientation, Developing Self, Developing Others, Leading Movements, Reflection. This online program includes keynote speakers, interactive workshops, self-led activities, discussion groups, and community-building activities with leading U.S. organizations and leaders. The Brazilian Scholars will participate in these activities in collaboration with each other and peers from around the world.
Scholars will design and implement Leadership Projects, which can be an activity, training session, and/or venture that promote economic inclusion and growth, empower women or minorities, and/or spread democratic values in Brazil. These projects could include workshops that provide entrepreneurial tools for women, a series of workshops on diversity and inclusion in the Brazilian context, and any other ideas that promote social impact in the community. Scholars who successfully complete program requirements will be eligible for our Community Impact Fund, small grants of up to $1000 to support implementation of their Leadership Project.
