Often times this year I caught myself freaking out about an unexpected situation. Though I cannot say I am a Buddhist (and I haven’t been very disciplined with my yoga and meditation practices), here are 4 thoughts that remind me to take a deep breath, calm down, and move on.

1) You are too great for people to bother you and want to screw you around. Don’t take everything personally;

2) You’re not that great and it is not always about you. Bad things happen and it is not necessarily because someone wants to screw you;

3) You never know when someone is trying to do their best. Yet, if you assume they all are, it makes things easier for you;

4) You can always try to be a better person even when others are not. You can’t control what people do but it is in your hands to control how you react to it (so be the better person).
