My host organization, UniversalGiving, regularly organizes team building events for its workers and this month our team joined another nonprofit for one morning. St. Francis Living Room has been in the Tenderloin for over 20 years, serving low income and homeless seniors with daily breakfast and activities.

Serving low income and homeless seniors in the Tenderloin, this institution provides over 17,000 nutritious breakfasts annually, as well as social, educational & recreational activities. In addition, the Living Room collaborates with numerous organizations and agencies to provide their needy clients with referrals for other needs ranging from food and housing, to clothing, medical, and wellness.

They welcome all people regardless of race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, national or ethnic origin, or disability.

Our little team dedicated Friday morning to serving breakfast, and we met other volunteers who have been weekly helping St. Francis Room for the past twenty years! We also met a young woman who has been in the city for just a week but decided to use her free morning for the serving a local nonprofit! Out team was definitely inspired to work twice harder on Friday! 😀

Such events are a great opportunity to unite your team, get to know your coworkers closely and give back to great communities in your area. We will definitely do it again 🙂
