Today, we speak with Marta Skierkowska (Poland, EPCAT International), a current Scholar from our 2024 Cohort of the Hilton Humanitarian Prize Virtual Leadership Institute (VLI). Thank you, Marta, for sharing with us about your personal and professional growth! We wish you the best of luck with the rest of the VLI and with your career!
I’m Marta Skierkowska from Warsaw, Poland. I’m the VP at the Empowering Children Foundation, which is a member of ECPAT International. I’m passionate about child rights and the prevention of abuse. And for a fun fact: I’m an ice cream devourer! 🙂
I saw the Hilton Humanitarian Prize Laureate Virtual Leadership Institute as a fantastic opportunity to enhance my skills in an international environment. I’m eager to learn from fellow scholars from around the world, to embrace their diverse perspectives, and to satisfy my curiosity about global issues. That’s exactly what has happened!
To me, leadership means serving others, being ready to take on responsibilities, inspiring and uplifting those around you.
I’m thrilled to be part of this learning process! The knowledge shared is very current and aligns with today’s leadership trends. I’m learning valuable concepts that I can apply in my work, increasing my awareness and effectiveness. I’m also gathering experiences to share with my colleagues, which are already influencing my approach to various processes.
Every interaction with my peers has been memorable and has taught me something new and valuable. I’m taking advantage of the networking opportunities, and I truly appreciate the bond I’ve formed with my accountabuddy, Sally! <3
Be present and fully immerse yourself in the VLI experience. Make it a priority in your calendar!
