Many of you were writing and posting on social media about International Women’s Day. Being a woman it’s a pride to see the post from men colleagues, friends and family members. It made you feel special and in the air and make you feel that there are people are in the world that cares that women should have the equal rights in every walk of life. One in three women experienced violence in their daily life besides the fact wherever they are living. Violence has no link with status of your country developed or underdeveloped or developing. Does not matter you are highly education you never committed violence. I encourage all of us to take a pause and reflect back whether we have never committed violence? I am sure it will take us to a different world where we have to rethink and force us to make a promise with ourselves. Working in development sector, we are not exempted. I feel a strange experience while listening song “Beak the Chain” by One Billion Rising I am re-gathering my thoughts and promising myself to raise my voice wherever I see violence against women and girls within my personal and social sphere. I hope after listening this song, you will be thrilled once again and it will take you to different world. Perhaps you never think of it before because of certain privileges being a man. Let me tell you about ‘One Billion Rising’: http://onebillionrising.org/blog/we-have-an-anthem

The ONE BILLION RISING campaign began as a call to action based on the staggering statistic that 1 in 3 women on the planet will be beaten or raped during her lifetime. With the world population at 7 billion, this adds up to more than ONE BILLION WOMEN AND GIRLS. On 14 February 2013, V-Day’s 15th anniversary, activists, writers, thinkers, celebrities and women and men across the world will come together to express their outrage, strike, dance, and RISE in defiance of the injustices women suffer, demanding an end at last to violence against women.
“Break the Chain” aims to raise awareness around the world about V-Day’s fastest escalating global campaign to date, ONE BILLION RISING.
I raise my arms to the sky
On my knees I pray
I’m not afraid anymore
I will walk through that door
Walk, dance, rise

I can see a world where we all live
Safe and free from all oppression
No more rape or incest, or abuse
Women are not a possession
