I am experiencing different things every month and every day while living in America being an Atlas Corps Fellow. But this month I learned to play Yankee Gift Swap which is an old American tradition and it is a kind of fun game and I just love it. In my office, we had a luncheon ceremony and Yankee Gift Swap. Initially I was confused that how one can play this game but when I did participated it was fun and I wanted to play all the time. And I did swap my gift 3 times and finally I got what I want. Yes I got $20 GAP gift card and now I am waiting for clearance sale to utilize it efficiently.
Here are the instructions if you never get a chance to play this game.
Just bring one gift valued at $xx.00 – $xx.00. (You can determine the amount, for us it was 15 to 20$) Wrap it but don’t put your name on it (it’s meant to be anonymous). Bring it with you to the party and there will be a table for all the gifts. After lunch we will start the Yankee Swap game. You will be given a number which indicates the order that each person gets to choose and open a gift. 😀
• The person with the lowest number goes first. He or she chooses a present, opens it, and takes it back with them.
• Each person in order then gets to pick a present, open it and decide whether to keep it or swap it for any other present someone else has already received.
• Opening and swapping continues until all the presents have been chosen. A gift can only be swapped 3 times.
• Finally, the person who picked first gets to choose from all the presents, or keep whatever he or she has already received.
You will see image how I decorated my gift. 😀
