I like to write about my most urgent questions in life, it gives me an opportunity to share my life with the readers. At this point, I am almost halfway through my fellowship and it is safe to say that this fellowship is one of the best experiences (working with Echoing Green) I have had so far. However, this one question is always on top of my mind, how will I measure my life looking backward?

This is a difficult question to entertain because it pushes you to challenge your choices in life. However difficult this thought might be, there is always value to reflect on it. It takes you closer to things that would value for you at the end of your life. Recently, I have been reading a book, How Will You Measure Your Life? by Clayton M. Christensen. In this book, he writes,

“In your life, there are going to be constant demands for your time and attention. How are you going to decide which of those demands gets resources? The trap many people fall into is to allocate their time to whoever screams loudest, and their talent to whatever offers them the fastest reward. That’s a dangerous way to build a strategy.”

I am yet to find the perfect balance in my life and there are always competing priorities which are screaming loudly at me. However, in the process, I have come to a profound realization that the most urgent work is not always the most important work, and it is upon us to take a step back and decide what is going to create the most value and meaning in our lives.
