I have met too many problem-solvers of world’s issues who spend all their workday behind the desk and talk about the value of volunteering while never volunteered themselves.

This reminds me of a boot vendor who has never owned a pair of boots. Doesn’t make any sense and definitely lacks credibility.

Volunteering for professionals like me is the core of what we do. Knowing it intrinsically makes us good specialists. Additionally, volunteering has numerous added benefits. I learned it while volunteering with HandsOn Atlanta’s TeamWorks. It is a great way to learn about the work of other organizations, learn about yourself, meet people and see primary beneficiaries and the issues they face first hand.

So I am urging you, the leaders of today, go and volunteer! Meet people and make your work grounded and relevant! Volunteer today!
