Lizzie joined the Atlas Corps team as a Program Associate in the Fall of 2019. She graduated from the University of South Carolina with a double major in International Studies and Chinese Studies. Her time in college fueled her passion for international education, as she was able to study abroad in India and China, work for UofSC’s Study Abroad Office, and volunteer extensively with an international peace education organization called CISV International. After graduation, Lizzie served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Rongchang, China. As a PCV, her primary assignment was teaching oral English classes to freshmen university students. For her secondary activities, she started a women’s group for her students from the ground up, led weekly women’s empowerment activities, served as the Editor-in-Chief of Peace Corps China’s gender equality and women’s empowerment publication, and worked with students to plan both a Choose Beautiful initiative and a sexual education event on campus. In her free time, Lizzie enjoys hiking, listening to music and podcasts, and playing with her puppy, Niunai, whom she brought home from China!
