Kat Duffy is the Vice President for Global Technology Programs at Internews, where she leads the strategy, technical approach, and institutional learning around technology across Internews’ work in more than 50 countries. She previously served as the Labs Director at the Sunlight Foundation, guiding the development of technological tools to make government and politics more accountable and transparent. Prior to joining Sunlight, Kat served as a Senior Programmatic Strategist in the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor at the U.S. Department of State, where she oversaw foreign assistance programs aimed at promoting transparency, independent media, democratic participation, electoral reform, governmental accountability and the free flow of information around the world. She has lived and worked in Spain, South Africa, Colombia, and Cuba, and currently resides in Washington, DC, with her husband, children, and multilingual pets.
