Vera has about 10 years of experience in the nonprofit sector and two years of experience in the private sector. She spent her career trying to make medical care more accessible. Currently, she leads the mass market acquisition and retention team at Doctors Without Borders (MSF-USA) and is responsible for managing the mass audience across channels. She particularly loves that MSF provides urgent medical care wherever needed and is very passionate about ensuring the work can continue without interruption. Previously at MSF-USA, Vera managed the direct mail channel and was responsible for growing the donor base and maximizing giving. She has also worked in community fundraising, managing events, cause marketing, and promoting community involvement at a nonprofit called myFace. myFace is a nonprofit dedicated to helping individuals with craniofacial conditions with surgical and psychosocial care. Prior to myFace, she managed the marketing program across all channels, direct mail, digital, and telemarketing, at an organization called WonderWork that provided free surgical treatment in 70 countries around the world. Vera attended Yale University for her Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology while following the pre-med curriculum and Columbia University for her Master’s degree in Socio-Cultural Anthropology.
