Melanie Sovern has nine years of experience in the nonprofit sector and earned a Bachelor’s degree from New York University Gallatin School of Individualized Study in New York City, where she graduated summa cum laude with a focus on liberal arts, social justice, critical theory, and art. As Director of Mass Audiences at Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières USA (MSF), Melanie oversees a $165M fundraising program of over a million donors. She leads the strategy for all marketing and fundraising campaigns, activities, and donor journeys for this critical audience. Prior to this role, Melanie served as the Senior Manager of Sustainer Giving at MSF, leading the sustainer program’s communications, strategy, and budget. She previously worked at the world-famous cancer hospital Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center for five years. She has also worked in the non-profit arts industry. Through these experiences, Melanie has developed her strategic thinking, collaborative leadership, and fundraising skills. Her passions include public health access, human rights, and civil liberties.
