Originally from the Washington DC area, Bernard Wiseman received his Bachelor’s degree in History from the University of New Orleans. He is currently completing his master’s degree in Humanitarian Practice MSc from the University of Manchester UK, as part of the MSF LEAP program. Bernard’s international career began with the United States Peace Corps, where he worked as an environmental education extension agent in Senegal, West Africa. After gaining experience in environmental issues, he returned home to contribute to sustainability initiatives for the US government. In this role, he focused on reducing the environmental impact of government building operations and became a LEED accredited professional. Since 2015, Bernard has worked with Doctors Without Borders (MSF) in various capacities, including Logistics Manager, Coordinator, and most recently Head of Mission. He has served communities in the Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, South Sudan, Papua New Guinea, Bangladesh, and most recently Ukraine. Currently, Bernard has transitioned back to the United States and works full-time with MSF in the New York City office as the US Association Coordinator.
