My main role in SAP is supporting “Refugee Code Week” initiative to educate refugees about coding. This is under the umbrella of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). By setting up and multiplying coding workshops and boot camps for young people (aged 8 – 24) predominantly inside refugee camps, Refugee Code Week is sustaining tangible and job-relevant education interventions across the EMEA region. First announced at the World Humanitarian Summit in 2016, Refugee Code Week supports the United Nations New York Declaration for Refugees and Migrants, which aims to strengthen the economic and social contribution of migrants to their local communities and host countries.
Our operations span over 9 countries with a target to reach 10,000 participants either locals or refugees. Massive efforts are placed by the team to make sure the logistics are well managed and deployed. Here is an infographic for the achievements so far
We are working around the clock to reach more refugees and penetrate the fabric of communities to make our message ding loudly. My team is having high hope to break the ceiling of 15000 participants for the next year and expending broader partners network.
