I hope it’s not too late to wish you a Happy New Year? Welcome to the year you have been waiting for😊!

Today, I want to talk about the Word ‘Preparation’. The word can be defined as the action or process of making ready or being made ready for use or consideration.

I remember a few years ago I was praying for a car. I knew it was a necessity because I had to travel miles to work, also because the traffic situation in my country makes it difficult to get public transportation during rush hours which often made me late to work. I also wanted a car because taking public transportation in my country can be humiliating – from trying to jump into a moving vehicle (because drivers are too impatient to wait) to being embarrassed by conductors or even co-commuters. These however is nothing compared to being trapped in the rain at the bus station… I really wanted a car.

On this day, I was running late to a meeting because it had rained that morning and I couldn’t leave home on time. I was just a few minutes away from my office when this truck sped by me, into a pot hole, that sent a pool of mud-water splashing all over me. To be honest, I still cannot put words to how I felt that morning. It was a mixture of emotions – anger, sadness, anxiety, worry, anger, anger and anger. Of course, the driver sped off without even the mere courtesy of saying sorry.

Now, to the reason of telling you this story – on getting to work that day, my boss felt so sorry for me and offered me the company’s car. This seemed like a great answer to prayer and for a moment there, I almost busted into singing. It was then it dawned on me… I don’t know how to drive!

Like the beginning of every year, the year 2020 is a year full of potentials and I assume many of us have already set goals and have a picture of what we want to achieve this year. Today I want to encourage you that it is not enough to set goals. Goals are good, but goals without ‘Action-Plans’ are just mere wishes!

Opportunity will always identify preparation… A wise man/woman once said; “The future belongs to those who prepare for it today”.

I don’t know what your goal or vision for the year 2020 is, whatever it is, I want to encourage you to plan! When I say plan, I mean put after you have drawn up your vision board, identify the things you need to do to achieve them, list them out and put a time to it. When you have done that, pick those plans one after the order and pursue them.

For instance, if you want to start up a business in this year, list out the connections you need to make, where to find them, and how you can reach them. Research the courses you need to take, and the training you need to attend, identify where you will find them and allocate a time each week that you will dedicate to pursuing them.

It is not enough to just set goals and dream dreams or even pray, you need to be committed to put in the required work. The opportunity you are praying for will come, but if you are not well prepared to receive it, someone else will receive the answers to your prayers.

It is important to be prepared because ready or not, 2020 is here!
