It is believed that under the rule of Kim Jong-Un, North Korea remains among the world’s most repressive country. All basic freedoms have been severely restricted under the Kim family’s dynasty.
In 2014, the United Nation commission found that abuse in North Korea was without parallel in the contemporary world. His methods of torture are compared to the torture of Nazis camp during World War II. Some of the tortured methods used are extermination, murder, enslavement, torture, imprisonment, rape, forced abortion and other types of sexual violence. During recent investigations, the U.N. also found that North Korea operates secretive prison camps where perceived opponents of the government are sent to face torture and abuse, starvation and forced labor. Other forms of violence used in the prison camps and outside prisons camps are public executions, inhumane treatments, lack of freedom of information, lack of freedom of movement, mistreatment of refugee asylum seekers and lack of labor rights.
Human inclusiveness security does not exist in North Korea; the security is focused more towards the government rather than to its citizens. Due to this issue of human rights violation the international communities have been warning for the extreme crime against humanity. Yet Kim Jong-Un stands strong by holding its self-defense statement which has caused strains with various countries. As a result, North Korea is widely seen as the greatest threats to peace in the Far East. For example, 1.12 million people are believed to have died from hunger and other famine related causes (Yong-Sup, 2000). These facts are not the only cause of violence but the threats to women’s health is also an issue as well as the mortality rates of pregnancy deaths.
