Some people may wonder “why so much noise about family planning and access to contraception?”

Family planning could prevent up to one in  every three maternal deaths by allowing  women to delay motherhood, space births, stop childbearing, avoid unintend prgenancies and abortions.

Family planning saves children’s lives. Spacing of births by at least two years could significantly reduce newborn, infant, and child deaths.

Family Planning saves young women’s lives.  Pregnant adolescents girls (15 to 19 years) are twice more likely to die in childbirth than those in their 20s, and girls under 15 are five times as likely to die as those in their 20s.Family planning can help young women avoid having children during this high-risk time.
