Today I was awestruck by the power of two girls who are leading change and fighting for the future of the women of their country. Elba Velasquez and Malala Yousafzai are an example of resilience and leadership for the women and men of the world.
Elba, in collaboration with Let Girls Lead (http://www.letgirlslead.org/), lead the establishment of a new model for girl centered advocacy through which she managed to generated government funding for girls’ education and health programs in beautiful Guatemala.
Malala, who we’ve all heard of before for her advocacy and her sacrifice for girls’ education in Pakistan and the world, gave us a message of possibility, peace and persistence. Ziauddin Yousafzai, her father, also fulfilled his job as a teacher and taught us a lesson about family values, even though his son is still “naughty” according to Malala.

I’ve had great chances to learn from children and teenagers and this has been a remarkable one.DSCF4191ElbaVelasquez
