The financial scandal around Interbolsa, a major local financial holding, is something we had not seen in Colombia in many years. A number of companies were part of this holding, but we have seen that most of them were used to create complex financial manoeuvres rather than as authentic instruments of wealth creation.
Amid this domino effect, is Fundación Interbolsa. According to its website, Fundación Interbolsa http://www.grupointerbolsa.com.co/fundacion-interbolsa is a nonprofit that “supports a nutrition program for poor kids in Bogota, Medellin and Cali.”
For those of us who believe in the value of the social sector, it is always good news when we hear of somebody, somewhere, doing something to “give back” to his/her country and help improve the conditions of other people through philanthropic, nonprofit initiatives. However, what has been disclosed so far about this foundation and its role in all this scandal is rather disappointing.
Apparently, Fundación Interbolsa was funded at least in part by voluntary contributions made by employees of the brokerage firm, and it reads in its website that it was overseen by a formal auditing firm. Let’s hope that just as attentive as authorities have been in the case of the other operations of the holding, they will be to clarify what happened with Fundación Interbolsa. What was exactly the wrong-doing, if any, involving this nonprofit? Who is to be held accountable for that? Who were the board members? and the managers? Where are the accounts? What is going to happen with the foundation after the liquidation of the holding? After all this, what are the lessons?
As a society, we need to demand clarity and accountability in regards to Fundacion Interbolsa, just like the media and stakeholders have done with the other companies involved in this scandal. According to El Espectador http://www.elespectador.com/noticias/judicial/articulo-398457-el-top-de-los-tumbados-interbolsa , a few nonprofits -and not only in Bogota, were financially hit by the Interbolsa collapse. In the case of Fundación Interbolsa, the impact is still unquantified.

El escándalo financiero de Interbolsa es algo que no se veía en Colombia desde hace muchos años. Diversas firmas hacían parte de esta holding, y hemos visto que muchas de ellas eran utilizadas más para complejas maniobras financieras que como auténticos instrumentos de creación de riqueza para la sociedad.
En medio de este efecto dominó, está Fundación Interbolsa. Solo por su nombre podríamos intuir de qué se trata. Fundación Interbolsa http://www.grupointerbolsa.com.co/fundacion-interbolsa es “una entidad que apoya la nutrición en la primera infancia en estratos 0, 1 y 2 en Bogotá, Medellín y Cali.”
Para quienes creemos en el valor del sector social, siempre es bueno saber que hay otras personas alrededor, que se van sumando a los esfuerzos por mejorar las cosas a través de diferentes iniciativas sociales. Sin embargo, lo poco que se ha conocido hasta ahora sobre Fundación Interbolsa y su situación en este escándalo financiero deja mucho que desear.
Aparentemente, Fundación Interbolsa se financiaba en parte con aportes voluntarios de los empleados de la comisionista, y según su página web era supervisada por una firma de auditoría. Sin embargo, esperemos que así como las autoridades han estado tan atentas con los casos de las otras operaciones de la holding, también lo estén para aclarar completamente qué ocurrió con la Fundación Interbolsa. Hubo malos manejos de recursos, como al parecer ha habido en los otros casos? Quiénes conformaban la junta directiva de Fundación Interbolsa? Quiénes la administraban? Dónde están sus cuentas? Qué va a pasar con esta Fundación?
Como sociedad, necesitamos reclamar con la misma vehemencia que haya claridad y ajuste de cuentas con respecto a la Fundación Interbolsa, como los medios lo han hecho con las otras entidades afectadas en este escándalo. De acuerdo con El Espectador http://www.elespectador.com/noticias/judicial/articulo-398457-el-top-de-los-tumbados-interbolsa , fueron varias las entidades sin ánimo de lucro, y no solo en Bogotá, afectadas financieramente por este colapso. En el caso de la Fundación Interbolsa el monto es indeterminado.
