Abenezer is a Human Resource Professional with almost ten years of experience in the nonprofit sector. Abenezer earned a Bachelor of Art in Public Administration and Development Management from Addis Ababa University in Ethiopia. While working as a Senior Human Resource Officer with CARE International in Ethiopia, he helped the organization to recruit, train, and retain a high performing workforce and implemented gender equality program in recruitment to increase female employees in the organization. Previously, Abenezer worked as a HR & Admin Manager with International Rescue Committee Ethiopia program under USAID and other donors funded programs. Through these experiences, he has developed strong people management skills, communication skills, and created welcoming workplaces for employees, where they can strive to do their best. Abenezer enjoys focusing on the topics of economic development, democracy, and human rights and has a strong passion of reading books.

Host Organization: Panorama Global

Role at Host Organization: As a Talent Acquisition Fellow, Abenezer will help Panorama Global source, identify, screen, and hire individuals for a broad range of roles across the organization affiliates. The Fellow’s role includes: inputting the overall hiring strategy of the organization to ensure the teams consist of a diverse set of qualified individuals; ensuring the staffing needs of the company are being met, with a long-term talent strategy in mind; and devising and implementing sourcing strategies to build pipelines of potential applicants, such as employer branding initiatives.

Ahmed Hassoon, a public health consultant, with more than seven years of experience serving vulnerable groups at different capacity for multiple sectors in Iraq. Ahmed earned a degree in General Medicine and Surgery from Baghdad School of Medicine in Iraq. He studied International Health & Development at Tulane School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine in the United States and is an internationally certified Project Manager (PMP) by the Project Management Institute. His certifications include: Disaster Planning, Global Development & Social Justice, International Development, Monitoring and Evaluation from Tulane University, Emory University, the United State Government, and USAID, respectively. While working at the Iraqi Ministry of Health and several major international organizations, he helped during the conflict and post conflict transition after the 2003 war by focusing on health services for war victims, internally displaced persons,, returnees, women, and children. Ahmed currently works for International Relief and Development as a Health Consultant. He also worked as the Iraq Operations Manager for International Rescue Committee, Capacity Building Coordinator for the Iraqi Ministry of Health, IDP’s Clinic Manager for INTERSOS, and Foundation House Officer for the Iraqi Ministry of Health in several Iraqi Hospitals. Through his field work and education, Ahmed developed a wide experience in public health program design, proposal writing, project management, operations, coordination, business development, and grant management. Ahmed has been awarded the prestigious Hubert Humphrey Fellowship (2010) by the United States Department of State for his dedication to public service in Iraq. Ahmed is fluent in English and Arabic.

Host Organization: International Relief and Development

Ahmed is an accomplished development professional with more than five years of experience in the nonprofit sector, and has a Bachelor of Arts degree in philosophy and sociology from Fourah Bay College (University of Sierra Leone). Like most young Sierra Leonean who envisaged abject poverty and devastation caused by the ten year senseless civil war in Sierra Leone, Ahmed did not confine himself in that situation but rather rose beyond it to make life better for himself and his compatriots mostly in need; some of whom are women and children suffering from sexual and gender based violence, youths whose livelihoods are shattered and pregnant women and mothers in need of sufficient healthcare. Ahmed joined BRAC Sierra Leone as a Young professional in November 2013 and through this appointment, he has been able to provide quality data on development that have been used by BRAC to solve problem of essential healthcare, malnutrition, gender based violence, access to finance etc. As a monitoring manger in BRAC, Ahmed successfully implemented and managed a strong monitoring & evaluation systems of large scale projects for BRAC Sierra Leone. Ahmed also immensely contributed to providing legal aid services to more than 2000 poor and marginalized women and children who suffered various forms of gender based violence, whilst leading BRAC’s human right and legal empowerment team in 2014. During this time, the Ebola Epidemic had broken out so he had to help BRAC management to design a project that caters for the right of quarantined individuals, households and communities badly affected. Ahmed raised around 70,000 (USD) from Trocaire/DFID to provide food and non food items to particularly quarantined households in 50 communities. In addition, Ahmed also facilitated social mobilization activities and psycho social supports to these communities, thereby helping them to deal with the unprecedented crisis.

Host Organization: Sheltering Arms

Role at Host Organization:
Ahmed will be tasked with collecting, compiling, and analyzing programmatic data with a lens towards outcome study, development and implementation. Working in conjunction with QI and programs, Ahmed will develop new ways to capture outcomes with a focus on innovative ways to measure service results and report out on findings.

Amira holds a Bachelor’s degree in Dental Surgery from University of Khartoum and a Master’s of Public Health in Global Health – Leadership, Management and Policy from University of Washington. Amira currently works as a health officer supervisor for the Project for Strengthening Peace through the Improvement of Public Services in Darfur States. She is also a member of the University of Washington (UW) assessment team for the upcoming partnership project between UW and the Federal Ministry of Health (FMoH) that aims to strengthen FMoH capacity leadership and management and implementation science. Previously Amira worked with UNDP-Global Fund (GF) as a national consultant supporting FMOH implementation of the current Health System Strengthening (HSS) project. During her work as HIV specialist with UNDP-GF she carried out a situation analysis and proposed the first HIV/AIDS service intervention package targeting Internally Displaced Population (IDPs) in Sudan to be implemented in Darfur states. Throughout her eight years of experience Amira recognized that most of the health problems in Sudan are attributed to weakness of the health system. Hence, she started to focus her efforts on strengthening the health system through provision of technical support to FMOH in different programs. The experience she has working with health system in Sudan enabled her to develop a good understanding of productive solutions. She is also interested in development of leadership, management skills in public health, health system strengthening, HIV/AIDS, and reproductive health.

Host Organization: International Center for Research on Women (ICRW)

Role at Host Organization: Amira will be using her skills in quantitative data analysis and program monitoring and evaluation for supporting ongoing projects and providing input into the design of new research studies across the Gender, Population and Development portfolio. She will also deepen her skills in data analysis, research design, scientific writing, and business development.

Ankit is a queer feminist activist. He is a member of Youth Coalition for Sexual and Reproductive Rights (YCSRR) and also serves on the Board of Directors. Ankit is passionate about reproductive justice for queer and trans youth, and has worked on a range of issues from Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) and public safety to environment and climate change. He serves on the Advisory Group to The Guttmacher-Lancet Commission on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights and the CIVICUS’s Youth Action Taskforce.

Host Organization:  Gay and Lesbian Victory Institute

 Role at Host Organization: As a program manager, Ankit will be working on the international program expanding to other countries including India. He will contribute his knowledge of the situation in India to the program. Overall, he will be supporting Victory’s programs in a range of different countries.

Gabriel has almost two years of experience in the nonprofit sector, and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (Accounting) from Kampala International University in Uganda. While working as an Assistant Finance Manager and a Zonal Grants Accountant for World Vision International (April 2012 – December 2013) in Western Equatoria State, South Sudan he helped transform and set up financial systems in the zone, introduced procedural accountability in the zone, as well as facilitiated zonal audit by various donors. Through his work experience, he has developed an incredible knowledge of financial and grants management for USAID, EU, UK and AUSAID, funded projects in Western Equatoria state, he also has helped build capacity for national staff in the zone through his fair and credible financial management skills. He has enhanced good relations with the state government on financial matters, advocated for the welfare of the children in the state, and conducted an advice project to officers/managers in proper budget prioritization. Previously, Gabriel worked for an International Commercial Bank in Juba as the head of Customer Care and Relationships Officer. Within three months of his duties, he helped promote the bank’s popularity and increased their customer base despite the growing competition in banking activities in the new country. Gabriel is a constant advocate of proper, fair and credible financial management in any profession.

Host Organization: Amir Project

Role at Host Organization: Yach will mainly work on budgeting, account management and reporting, and fiscal planning during his time at Amir Project. He will be responsible for ensuring monthly budget projects align with historical financial data and take into account organizational growth. He will also work to put together monthly expense reports, as well as work with CEO and Board of Directors to put together fiscal goals and upcoming milestones.

Ava is a development worker with nine years of experience managing global projects and campaigns, providing capacity development to communities and nonprofit organizations, conducting research and designing and executing communication strategies for international NGOs. As Campaigns Officer for a regional organization on agroecology and food sovereignty, Ava supported the capacity development of communities and local organizations on community-based monitoring of the human rights implications of hazardous pesticides. She also initiated the development of a global campaign calling for the accountability of agrochemical TNCs for human rights abuse. Previously, she spearheaded a team to evaluate a large government program on a community-driven development approach to disaster recovery and rehabilitation. Ava has worked on various issues such as climate change, right to water, sexual and reproductive health and rights, and aid/development effectiveness. As an activist, Ava is strongly committed to social justice, grassroots empowerment, and gender equality. She recently finished her Master’s degree in International Development at Massey University, New Zealand. In her downtime, you can find Ava outdoors, probably hiking, swimming or aimlessly wandering. She also enjoys reading, singing and collecting new experiences.

Host Organization: Transparency and Accountability Initiative

Role at Host Organization: Ava will help shape TAI’s communications, advocacy and reporting. She will be responsible for managing the new TAI website, strengthening relations with member donor and grantee communications and knowledge management counterparts, raising awareness of TAI and members’ activities and finding innovative ways to communicate findings from research and meetings to core audiences.

Chibuonu Obiageli Ezennabike is a public health professional with ten years of experience in the non-profit sector. Chibuonu earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Microbiology from Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Uli, Anambra State of Nigeria. While working as the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer with Caritas Nigeria on the 4GATES Project, a CDC-funded HIV/AIDS program, she helped improve the PMTCT program monitoring and evaluation by designing reporting tools, building capacity of facility staff, and ensuring data quality in Eastern Nigeria. She also coordinated the monitoring and evaluation activities of the Pediatric and Adolescent Program and FLAGSHIP Program in Delta State and ensured consistent availability of data for tracking project progress and making informed decisions. Previously, Chibuonu volunteered as a data entry clerk for RISE Clinic Nigeria for some months before being employed by the organization. Chibuonu worked with RISE Clinic Nigeria (subsidiary of RISE GHI San Diego U.S), a community-based organization to plan and implement community outreach events, health fairs and to promote health education in rural communities of Anambra State. In this role, she was also responsible for research, monitoring and evaluation of Nigeria’s Epilepsy Care Advancement Program. Chibuonu, over these years, has developed skills in monitoring and evaluation, research, health education, health system strengthening, institutional capacity building, and project management. Chibuonu enjoys focusing on adolescent, maternal and child health issues, and has a strong passion for research. She is very optimistic that efficient and effective use of data in research and public health interventions will ensure sustainability and improvement of health systems in Africa.

Role at Host Organization: At ideas42, Chibuonu will serve as a Behavioral Design Fellow: contributing to different behavioral design projects in Global Health and participating in professional development opportunities, specifically around behavioral science and program.
