Aaron possesses about four years of progressive experience in developing data infrastructure software solutions. He has hands-on experience overseeing the design, development and maintenance of various database systems. He supports War Child Holland in Uganda as the IT Supervisor. In October 2017 he joined PATH, an international organization for global health innovation, as a Software Engineer Research Fellow on Health Systems under the USAID Advocacy for Health Fellowship. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology and is also pursuing his Postgraduate degree online in Data Science. His professional history also includes positions such as M&E Database Engineer Research Fellow, Oxfam Database Developer, and Software Engineer. He supported a civil society organization locally known as Jinja Area Communities Federation to develop digital web monitoring and evaluation systems, plus a child participation database, during the twelve month placement period. The monitoring and evaluation systems supported collaboration of regional actors together with data and operations units from all projects. The effective new approach and channel of strengthening and tracking health units performance was linked to the organization performance data in thematic areas of HIV/AIDS and maternal, newborn and child health (MNCH). He enjoys solving large, complex data problems in the process of building and determining a solution.

Host Organization: American Red Cross

Role at American Red Cross: At The American Red Cross, Aaron will serve as a Disaster Preparedness ICTs Fellow: supporting coordination and dissemination of innovative programs of the Global Disaster Preparedness Center (GDPC) and contributing to the GDPC’s knowledge management efforts.

Abdulrahman has developed extensive academic and industry experience both over the past decade. He has worked in a diverse range of environments including public, profit and nonprofit organizations. He completed a PhD in Computer Science at Cairo University, achieving the Most Outstanding Thesis Award. Before that, he complemented his academic path with an MBA in International Business from the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT).While working at AASTMT as a Startup Support Officer, he helped student to translate their ideas into business plans, worked on fundraising and taught Computer Science. Previously, Abdulrahman supervised startup support activities at THE Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (TIEC) where he orchestrated the Industry-Driven Startups Program to consult entrepreneurs on how to approach common challenges. Through these experiences, Galal has developed various skills, from programming, giving public presentations and drafting proposals.

Role at Host Organization: Abdulrahman will manage logistical tasks of the department’s programs, liaising with partners to coordinate programs’ related events, engaging as an instructor of the programs’ training offerings, and drafting reports regarding different aspects of the programs.

Abigail Bokoyeibo has five years of experience as an advocate for women and girls development, renewable energy access, and business development in the nonprofit sector. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Banking and Finance from the University of Calabar in Nigeria. While working as Business Coach and Facilitator at the International Institute of Tourism and Hospitality, Bayelsa, Nigeria, she trained students on vocational skills, entrepreneurial skills and business development, and also consulted for the business unit of the Institute. As the Founder and Team Lead of a Nonprofit Young African Women Connect initiative, she developed and led programs that build the capacities of young women on hand skills and empower them through trainings on self-growth, entrepreneurship, business, career, leadership, personal finance, and advocacy. Previously, Abigail worked at Solar Sister as a Business Development Associate, where she recruited, trained and mentored rural women to become energy solution providers and solar entrepreneurs. Through her work, 30 women became active renewable energy advocates and solar entrepreneurs; each making an average of $1,000 annually through her mentorship. Abigail has volunteered in different organizations as a facilitator, youth advocate, and agent of change, including CornerStone Leadership Inspiration Transform foundation, Great Reformers Initiative, and Agent of Change Initiative. Through these experiences, Abigail has developed skills in capacity building, leadership development, business development and project planning and implementation. Abigail is interested in entrepreneurship, leadership, rural energy access, social entrepreneurship, business development, and management.

Host Organization: World Vision US

Role at Host Organization: Abigail will focus on the holistic youth workforce development project model called “Youth Ready: For Work, For Life”. She will particularly work on improving the learning activities and materials that make up the project’s extensive curriculum that focuses on life skills development, livelihood preparation(employability and entrepreneurship), financial education, digital literacy, and citizenship.

Adam has over six years of experience in the non-profit sector as a student and professional. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Communications from Leyte Normal University in 2005 where he graduated cum laude, and is pursuing his Master’s degree in Management at the University of the Philippines. As a student, he was active in various school and community activities where he held significant leadership positions. He represented his province in the 4th National Youth Parliament, a biennial assembly of young people representing the various sub-sectors and geographical groupings nationwide to develop a legislative-executive agenda for youth development. Soon after he graduated, he was selected to join the pioneer batch of Global Xchange Program leaders, a six-month exchange program between the UK and Philippines. Managed by Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) and the British Council (BC), the program aims to give young people from different countries a unique opportunity to work together to make practical contributions to local communities. Immediately after completing the volunteer exchange program, Adam began working as a Project/ Technical Officer at the Japan Fund for Poverty Reduction – Sustainable Livelihood Projects for the Poor in Southern Philippines, a grant project supported by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), where he was responsible for overall management of the project in the Visayas Network. At age 22, Adam became the youngest addition to World Vision Philippines as a Program Officer. In four years at World Vision, Adam acquired experience and skills in program management in development and humanitarian relief projects. in Bangladesh, Adam underwent training to set-up accountability mechanisms for development projects and programs. Through his pursuits in non-profit and volunteer work, Adam has grown into a a conscientious, passionate and relentless development professional and volunteer.

Host Organization: Operation Smile

Adelide has more than five years of experience in the nonprofit sector. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in International Studies (magna cum laude) from Ewha Womans University in Seoul, Korea and a Master’s Degree (summa cum laude) in Public Policy from Korea Development Institute Graduate School of Public Policy and Management. Motivated by driving social change, social enterprise acumen and youth capacity building, Adelide is the Co-Founder and Director of the Nairobi-based nonprofit organization Africa Young Entrepreneurs Support Centre which runs youth social entrepreneurship and leadership training & exchange programs. Adelide has most recently worked as an Atlas Corps Fellow in Australia supporting the design and development of youth and social change programs at the Foundation for Young Australians in Melbourne. Previously, she has worked in both government and non-governmental agencies such as the Global Peace Foundation and the Korea Trade Promotion-Investment Agency where she was actively involved in policy analysis, project management, event planning, research and report writing. Through these experiences, she has developed strong analytical, logical, project management, program design and development skills. Adelide is passionate about high performance in the social sector, social inclusion, education and youth and female empowerment.

Host Organization: RFK Human Rights*

Role at Host Organization: Adelide will develop strategies for expansion, provide support to fellows and nonprofit partners with Fellowship placements, execute and market events for Fellowship programs and fundraising, and build and maintain relationships with nonprofit partners. She will also identify new individual major donors, foundation prospects, and corporate partners.

Aida Merabet has over ten years working experience with different nonprofits and corporations in the fields of business empowerment for women and youth educational programs in Algeria. She earned an MBA in Management Marketing from ESG Paris. Aida is the Founder of the social enterprise “Power Harmony Solution.” Previously, Aida worked as the Middle East Partnership (MEPI) Alumni Local Chapter Coordinator, where she strengthened commitment to civic activism, thus creating an environment where alumni can work together to bring positive change to the region. She helped empower young people to work for their economic success as an Education & Training Officer at Injaz El Djazair. As a Hub Manager for the Middle East and North Africa Business Women Network (MENABWN), she was responsible for leading and managing a program to support business women in Algeria. She has also served as an Algerian Country Officer Alwane-Algeria, with Women’s campaign International, an initiative that seeks to empower Algerian women to hold decision-making positions and to enhance their leadership roles so that they can become role models for the region. She also enjoys volunteering, whether it be as the Under Secretary General for Algeria’s national Model United Nations conference or as the Algeria Country Coordinator for the World Peace Initiative Foundation’s Project Peace In and Peace Out (PIPO).

Host Organization: Atlas Corps | American Express

Role at Host Organization: Aida will support the overall strengthening of leadership development in the nonprofit sector through a partnership with American Express. In her role, Aida will help to expand the American Express Leadership Academy franchise. Building on the American Express role in supporting best-in-class leadership practices and capacity building, she will coordinate and grow the alumni network; manage and coordinate the global Alumni Summit, help develop and improve communication and dissemination of best practices and provide overall project support for the Leaderstories.org website.

Alaeddine has three years of working experience in the nonprofit sector in Tunisia and beyond. He earned a B.B.A. from University of Tunis and has taken several language courses at Instituto Cervantes, Bourguiba Institute of Modern Languages, and University of Liverpool. In 2015, he joined the Women Deliver Young Leaders Program to advocate for women’s sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) in the MENA region through e-courses, capacity-building workshops and training sessions. He was also selected by UN Women as an Empower Women Global Champion for his work advancing women’s economic empowerment. In addition, Alaeddine has been named a 120 Under 40 Family Planning Award Winner by The Bill & Melinda Gates Institute for Population and Reproductive Health, and was selected as a Youth Media Professional by the African Union Youth Division. Alaeddine contributes to several media outlets and blogs as a freelance journalist and blogger such as Youth Time Magazine, UNICEF’s Voices of Youth blog, the Huffington Post, YaLa Press. He writes about gender equality, women’s SRHR, peacebuilding, human rights, as well as culture and society. Through these experiences, he was able to strengthen his policy and advocacy skills and acquire in-depth exposure to youth capacity building, women empowerment, and leadership development. Alaeddine has a strong passion for women’s rights, health, and wellbeing, and enjoys working on advocacy and civic engagement through media and public relations. Alaeddine also enjoys traveling, meeting people, and playing piano.

Host Organization: Planned Parenthood Global

Role at Host Organization: Alaeddine will provide logistical and technical assistance to the global communications team. He will support the organization’s existing social media properties by writing and developing sexual and reproductive health and rights content, as well as providing key translation support. Additionally, Alaeddine will be a critical part of launching two new social media properties.

Alanna Sousa is a Social Intrapreneur and Global Citizen. Passionate about social (intra)entrepreneurship, innovation and youth leadership development, Alanna has spent the last six years working in the nonprofit sector. She earned a Bachelor´s degree in Law School from CESUSC in Florianopolis, Brazil, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Social Innovation Management from the Amani Institute, in Nairobi, Kenya. Originally from Brazil, Alanna has taught English to children with HIV in India, studied different approaches to justice and conflict resolution in Canada, applied Restorative Justice in Mozambique and brought light to the lives of people living in the slums of Brazil and Kenya. Since 2015, Alanna has been on a journey to better understand the impact of Privileges (and the lack of them) on people’s lives while also raising awareness about the importance of discussing the matter.

Role at Host Organization: As the Program Officer in Liter of Light USA Alanna is responsible for providing Project Managing activities in the U.S., such as building new partnerships, deepening and refining all aspects of communications, aggregating project-level data to continuously improve interventions, and engaging in strategic business planning process for Liter of Light’s national and global expansion.
