Tarig has seven years of experience in the non-profit sector, and earned a Post Graduate Diplomas in African and Asian Studies from the Institute of African Asian studies University of Khartoum in Sudan. Tarig most recently worked as an Education and Development Program Officer for Women’s Empowerment and Development at GOAL international in Sudan. At GOAL, Tarig developed project design, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation of human trafficking in refugee camps in eastern Sudan. Tarig helped develop the rural areas in five states through empowering women to have stronger roles in their communities’ decision making through greater self-reliance by having a source of income and better health knowledge. Tarig developed strong project monitoring tools as a means of verifications for these targets, and coordinated their implementation. Previously, Tarig also worked at projects under the UNDP/Irish Aid/DFID and OFDA, and USAID funded women development programs. Tarig is committed to the empowerment of women through development and empowerment community techniques, and he desires to replicate his experience with conflict resolution and peace building by integrating ex-combatants in the civil community.
Host Organization: Heartland Alliance International
Role at Host Organization: Tarig will provide support across Heartland Alliance’s monitoring and evaluation (M&E), program development, and operations departments. Tarig will also support successful implementation of programs across HAI’s program portfolios and regions.
