Harriet is a development practitioner with over seven years of experience in the nonprofit sector. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences from Makerere University and a Master’s degree in Development Studies from Uganda Martyrs University. Harriet worked as the Women’s Protection and Empowerment (WPE) Manager at the International Rescue Committee (IRC) implementing economic empowerment programs for refugee women in emergency settings, urban areas and women and girls in post conflict northern Uganda. As a Gender and Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) Specialist with the Production for Improved Nutrition project-USAID, Harriet spearheaded the development of the Gender Mainstreaming Strategy. She trained project staff and volunteers in gender sensitive programming while collaborating with the Ministry of Gender Labor and Social Development to ensure compliance and timely service delivery for vulnerable children. While serving as Vice President of the Board of Directors, and Young Professionals Chapter Coordinator at Uganda Rural Fund, Harriet was responsible for fundraising, grants research, program monitoring and evaluation, and youth leadership programming. Harriet has also served as a Social Worker and Unit Head at Francois Xavier Bagnold (FXB) International in Uganda. Harriet is passionate about Orphans and Vulnerable Children, women and youth programming.
Host Organization: Atlas Corps
Role at Host Organization: Harriet will be responsible for managing the Atlas Corps Global Leadership Lab (GLL), a training program for rising global nonprofit leaders participating in the Atlas Corps Fellowship. She will also plan and manage this leadership development program to empower Atlas Corps Fellows in their professional journeys. Harriet will ensure the overall excellent experience for staff, speakers, and Fellow participants.
