As a person who studied Economics and Statistics, I realized that last two months I have been hard up for living with limited stipend.

First of all, usually it costs $16 for weekly bus pass in DC. And it has been increased up to $17.5. It means you are spending $6 more on transportation compare to previous month.

Second, one bag of onion was around $2.99 at Giant supermarket (specifically in Columbia heights). Now price of onion is $3.99. It seems living cost in DC has risen sharply.

According to Bureau of Labor Statistics, The Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) increased 0.4 percent in May. The all items index for shelter, electricity, food, airline fares, and gasoline increased 2.1 percent over the last 12 months. Especially for Food and Transportation, which most fellows are spending on, have gone up a lot so that it is time to be cautious of your bank account. ☺

The Food index rose 0.5 percent in May after increasing 0.4 in each of the three previous months. The index for food at home increased 0.7 percent. Bureau said that it is largest increase since July 2011.

Moreover it is shocking news for those who love meats. The index for meats, poultry, fish and eggs has risen 7.7 percent over the span. Should I become a vegetarian?

My sensory consumer price index is worse than what bureau released.
Dear my dearest fellows! We need to strategize how we spend most efficiently and effectively with frozen stipend.
Otherwise we should promote “Global Giving Day” for more people to donate to Atlas Corps so that we can spend our stipend with nutritionally balanced.
