When Mavis is looking for talent, she is looking for two things: Confidence and humility to say ‘I don’t know the answer’. And she really admires individuals who are able to say ‘I am coming for this job because I want to learn something new’.

Since July 2020, Mavis Owusu-Gyamfi is the Executive Vice President of the African Center for Economic Transformation (ACET), an economic policy institute supporting Africa’s long-term growth through transformation. She has worked in leadership roles at DfID, Save the Children UK, and The Power of Nutrition.

In our conversation, she also shares helpful advice for young talented people on how to deal with failure and learn from it. And don’t miss her fun fact on very, very competitive games with her family members during the holidays!
